The Ham Was Great

I am a successful ham picker outer! I went to the grocery for mom and dad because they were working. They just got home from visiting me in North Carolina and then picked me up at the airport on Sunday. They have barely been home and started back to work on Monday. If your business is like theirs, you know how it is to come back to a load of mail and phone messages. The refrigerator was bare and the menu was not planned for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Mom and I sat down and picked some of our favorite casseroles and side dishes. I made a list and went to the grocery. It wasn’t hard to get what we needed but I was not comfortable picking out the ham. I picked a spiral honey baked ham and hoped it would be ok. It was terrific! Yay! I am a good ham picker outer.

Hunting Blinds were an important part of making deer hunting fun and safe when he went out in the wee hours of the morning. H&R Business Mall offers quality hunting blinds at competitive prices. Tragedy Avoided

I am thankful that mom and dad’s kitchen did not catch on fire today. Four or five of us were each cooking different dishes to add to the Thanksgiving dinner. I putĀ  a foiled sheet of buttered rice krispies under the broiler. They needed to brown a little to make a crunchy topping for a vegetable casserole. The got a little too brown. My brother said that it looked like something was on fire. We rolled our eyes because we thought he was kidding. Then we remembered the rice krispies. When mom opened the oven door, 18 inch flames shot up and almost caught the cabinet doors on fire. I threw salt onto the flames and put the fire out.

We started over on the crunchy topping.

Surprise!

Oh my gosh! Today was so much fun. My grandma let me in on a secret last night. She told me that my Aunt Grace and her family were on their way and would be at our house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was hard not to tell my mom but I never let the secret out of the bag.

My mom was so shocked when her sister and her family walked into our house this afternoon. It was priceless. LOL She always makes too much food so having enough to eat was not a problem.

Would your mom be mad if unexpected visitors stopped by for Thanksgiving dinner at your house?
