Good Times

Usually I am complaining about having very little to do at work. I don’t want people having the wrong idea about aviation life in the coast guard, when I don’t have much to do that means the choppers are up and running well, and our peeps are taking out the bad guys. It’s just when everything works I get bored. Last week was great, I was busy for almost all five days of work. We replaced gadgets, chased wires, drained fuel, and got greasy! Today wasn’t as busy but I did some work, and here’s a pic of me in the tail cone, hope it’s good cause I haven’t looked at it yet. The other is of two of my fellow coastie tweets!

Surprise!

Oh my gosh! Today was so much fun. My grandma let me in on a secret last night. She told me that my Aunt Grace and her family were on their way and would be at our house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was hard not to tell my mom but I never let the secret out of the bag.

My mom was so shocked when her sister and her family walked into our house this afternoon. It was priceless. LOL She always makes too much food so having enough to eat was not a problem.

Would your mom be mad if unexpected visitors stopped by for Thanksgiving dinner at your house?

TechBargains

Ok, I am very close to upgrading to the new wordpress version but I need to do a few things to get ready. I want to back up everything onto an external storage device to makes sure, nothing is deleted. I want to get the best I can get at the lowest price and so I have signed up at TechBargains. They send me updates on deals and rebates and they update every 24 hours so I know I am getting the latest bargain. Unlike coupons that I carry in my wallet and find they are expired when I go to use them, TechBargains is on top of it! I know it is probably not cool to use the word cheap. TechBargains does not care! They use the word cheap all over their website. They don’t mean cheap as in fall apart construction. They mean cheap as in holy moly that is a good deal!

TechBargains can save on anything technical. They have links to the best buys for renting games. They have a search program that will find you the best deal on products. Try out their Similar Deal link and find what you are looking for, then compare their prices. They list dell coupons and will tell you if they are about to expire. You don’t even have to stay home and wait for a deal. Through an RSS feed, you can get information on your cell phone or any other wireless device. Hey! They know their stuff.

I love receiving their email newsletters because they contain the best deals of that particular week. If I am in a hurry, I just glance at the email and see if anything interests me. If you want to save money on your computers, storage solutions, digital devices and more, check out TechBargains. You will find coupons and rebates that will save you money so you can buy more technical stuff!

They Care

Everyone has started buying things over the Internet. I know I have! You can find everything on the Internet. The Internet makes it possible to purchase things for your home. I have heard that when something goes wrong, it can be a problem to get anything done to make it right. It seems as though manufacturers of products don’t want to stand behind their warranties when their products are purchased online. That is not right. I am sure there will be some lawsuits over those situations.

It makes one leery of purchasing over the Internet. iFLOOR wants to reassure their customers that if they have problems with purchases made from them, they will back up their product. They have even taken it upon themselves to offer their own monetary warranty. Read the following press release for more information. It is good to see a quality retailer stand up for what is right.

iFLOOR, America’s largest online flooring retailer, today announced a $1,000,000 limited warranty designed to protect its customers from predatory manufacturer policies that exclude warranty coverage from online purchases.

The policy, which goes into effect immediately, offers up to one million dollars of coverage in the event that a customer’s warranty claim is denied specifically because they made their purchase online. It is complimentary for every iFLOOR customer, and protects the buyer under the same terms as the original product warranty.

iFLOOR, Inc. CEO, Steve Simonson, came up with the program to combat “scare tactics” used by manufacturers of hardwood floors and laminate flooring. “Their idea is to discourage you from buying at a discount!” wrote Simonson in his blog “It’s About Flooring”. “This is not right! You deserve to save money! So we’re going to take care of this problem once and for all.”

And it would appear that federal law is on his side. Section 108 of the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Act, states that, “In general, tie-in sales provisions are not allowed. Such a provision would require a purchaser of the warranted product to buy an item or service from a particular company to use with the warranted product in order to be eligible to receive a remedy under the warranty.”

Under iFLOOR’s new warranty, a key provision allows for iFLOOR to “seek justice” on behalf of the customer in the event of legal action. According to Simonson, “I’m putting iFLOOR’s money where my mouth is.”

About iFLOOR, Inc.

Reflections

I was thinking about my hometown and how pretty it is this time of year. There are a bunch of trees near my Grandma’s house that turn red when the weather turns cold. It is a pretty drive from Mom and Dad’s house to her house. My brother and I hated to rake leaves but we wound up having fun when we did. It is funny the things you miss!

Collecting

Do you collect things? I have a collection of movies and I utilize it. I have series of certain movies that are quite old. I have other series that are new. Those include the Lost dvd’s, One Tree Hill dvd’s and The Gilmore Girls dvd’s. I recently purchased Desperate Housewives dvd’s. Can you tell that I love watching movies and tv shows?

Another collection I have is books. Whenever I get to a place that I will be able to put some roots down, I plan on having book shelves full of my books. I read my favorite books over and over.

Learn More About Alzheimer’s Disease

I hope everyone takes advantage of the free memory screenings in their neck of the woods. It is important to get screening so that if one is prone to the disease of Alzheimers, steps can be taken to deal with the findings. Early detection is always the key to dealing with diseases such as cancer and this memory disease. Finding a location in your area is a simple process. You simply go to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America website and enter your zip code. The location of a memory screening center nearest to you will be presented.

Other valuable information can also be found on the website. Important information concerning quality care for a loved one suffering with the disease is available. There are also “successful aging tips” that can help many seniors as they deal with the potential of having Alzheimer’s disease. We are all hoping for a cure for this disease. In the meantime, lets all get our health screened and learn more about the disease. We need to be informed and inform others as well. Knowledge is Power!

It is also possible to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s by donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. The website lists many ways to donate. You will also find information on fundraising. Think of the ways you can get involved! It is possible to touch many lives. No one should have to face this awful disease alone. Let us all do our part.

Sports on TV

It is so much fun to get together with all my friends and watch the game. It doesn’t matter what game because we are all from different states. Someone is going to be rooting for the teams on both sides. Last weekend was fun because my home state of Indiana was up against the state I am moving to, namely Florida. Ha! I was rooting for the Indiana team.

Watching sports on tv lets us test out our cooking on each other. That can be a good thing! I love watching soccer on seriea.tv. I can choose to watch it live or on-demand. The interviews with the players are always interesting because you get to know the players and coaches better. Hearing trivia like where they are from and their ages is something I like to know. Serie A is Italian soccer and maybe because I played soccer, I really get into watching the games. The price for Seria.tv is reasonable and so even on my budget it is affordable. The quality is very good. It makes it better than being there.

Our food is always good too. Besides the usual chips and pop, we have gotten into grilling! We are all going to have to start playing soccer to work off the yummy food!

You Could Win

I have gotten to the point of being so bored with commercials that I hit the mute button when they come on. I see all these great spoof videos that make fun of commercials so I know that great commercials can be made. Those people, making the spoofs, are amateurs and yet are so good!
There is a website where even amateurs can create their own commercial and send it to an advertiser. In fact, if you are one of those who loves to play around with making commercials, Black Turtle Media wants your work! Black Turtle Media is a site dedicated to promoting amateur and professional producers of commercial-grade advertising.

My cousin is a natural at producing video commercials. She is only 12! I would love to see some of her things produced into commercials. She and her mom need to check out Black Turtle Media and see if she meets the requirements to register. It is pretty simple to get signed up.

To raise awareness of their company, Black Turtle Media is running a contest. All you have to do is send in a self-made commercial on the following topics:

Apple iPhone
Halo3 video game
Decision 2008

Get over to Black Turtle Media! You have a chance to win $5000!
